The City of Monett announced on May 5 the completion and upcoming grand opening of a new fishing dock at the Monett South Park Pond. The installation was finished by Playpower crews on May 4, and a public celebration is scheduled for Monday, May 11 at 4 p.m.

The EZ Dock was donated to the City of Monett by EZ Dock and the Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed as a permanent fixture for community use. For several years, a temporary version of this dock had been used during the annual Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed Kids Fishing Day events.

With this donation, residents will now have year-round access to the dock. The city said that all members of the community are invited to attend the opening event alongside representatives from EZ Dock, Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed, and the Monett Area Chamber of Commerce.

Kids Fishing Day will officially begin the fishing season at South Park Pond from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30. The pond will be open for children aged 15 years old and younger from May 30 through December 31 each year.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new dock is also being planned later in May.
