Rep. Eric Burlison, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, recently shared his perspectives on various national issues through social media posts. His comments touch upon federal policies and economic strategies, reflecting his stance on governmental operations.

On May 8, 2025, Rep. Burlison expressed concerns about the current system allowing states to “exploit waivers from the federal government to weaken work requirements for food stamps.” He emphasized that states should “have some skin in the game and keep SNAP affordable for those truly in need” while tagging former Representative Matt Gaetz in his post. “Under the current system, states exploit waivers from the federal government to weaken work requirements for food stamps.”

Later that day, Burlison addressed fiscal policy by asserting that Congress has a significant chance to challenge existing norms and advocate for substantial spending cuts. He criticized what he described as an entrenched culture of financial mismanagement within Washington’s political establishment: “Congress has a historic opportunity to reject the status quo and fight for historic spending cuts, but the old guard wants to keep the grift in Washington alive.”

The following day, on May 9, 2025, Burlison highlighted American industrial prowess with a patriotic message underscoring domestic innovation and production capabilities: “Made in America” is the heartbeat of a nation that refuses to be outdone, a nation that innovates, creates, and dominates.”

Born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and residing in Ozark, Eric Burlison holds degrees from Missouri State University. His career includes previous service in both Missouri’s House of Representatives and Senate before joining Congress.
