Rep. Eric Burlison, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 7th district since 2023, has been active on social media sharing his views on national issues. With a background in the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate, Burlison offers insights on topics ranging from federal investigations to fiscal policy.

On May 16, 2025, Burlison expressed criticism of former FBI Director James Comey via social media. He stated that “Comey’s FBI badge didn’t teach him ’86,’ but his ego sure taught him denial.” Burlison described Comey’s actions as disgraceful and called for further scrutiny of his refusal to acknowledge implications.

Later the same day, Burlison commented on Washington’s budgetary practices. He asserted that “Washington’s budget is complex on purpose — the math is designed to fool you.” He criticized how spending increases and debt rise while states allegedly manipulate Medicaid funding to support illegal immigrants, resulting in higher taxes for citizens.

Continuing his critique of federal spending, Burlison detailed aspects of the national budget in another post. He explained that “Washington is spending $6.8 trillion this year,” with significant portions allocated to mandatory spending and non-defense discretionary expenses. He challenged the notion that budget cuts are unfeasible.

Eric Burlison was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and currently resides in Ozark. A graduate of Missouri State University, he earned his BA in 2000 and completed further studies at the same institution in 2002.
