Burlison, who previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate, has been vocal about financial oversight and accountability.
On June 4, 2025, Burlison highlighted concerns regarding the allocation of funds by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He stated that “Of the $27 billion granted to the EPA, $20 billion was rushed out the door to eight nonprofits after Biden lost the election.” He further noted that several of these organizations were established shortly after grant applications opened in July 2023. Burlison labeled this as a “MASSIVE. SCAM.”
The following day, June 5, 2025, Burlison addressed another issue involving Major League Baseball (MLB). He mentioned sending a letter to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred concerning what he described as a severe lifetime ban on player Trevor Bauer. Burlison expressed frustration over not receiving any response from Manfred: “Months have passed, and he still hasn’t had the decency to reply or even acknowledge the issue.”
Later on June 5, Burlison commented on Elon Musk’s role in fiscal matters. He praised Musk’s involvement in budgetary discussions by stating that “Elon Musk is a valuable asset in the fight for a balanced budget.” Emphasizing the need for support from influential figures like Musk, he underscored the challenges faced by those advocating for fiscal responsibility.
