Friends of Jill Carter for Senate spent the most out of political committees among cities in Newton County during the fourth quarter of 2023.

It spent $11,745 on 10 vendors during the time period.

The largest expense was for Media Production to Mitzi Starkweather Photography, which is based in Joplin.

The second largest political spend from a committee operating in cities in Newton County during the fourth quarter of 2023 came from The Committee to Elect Ben Baker. It spent $7,401 during the time period on 14 different vendors.

In the previous quarter, Democratic Committee for Missouri 32nd Senatorial District was the biggest spender.

What’s known as “dark money”, which comes from political non-profits and shell corporations, has greatly increased expenditures and donations in recent elections to record-breaking highs.
