Eric Burlison, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 7th district, recently shared his views on various legislative matters through a series of tweets. These posts highlight his stance on Medicaid reform, federal spending offsets, and environmental policies.
On May 19, 2025, Burlison expressed concerns about the current bill's inadequacies regarding Medicaid provider taxes. He stated that it fails to address how certain states are exploiting these taxes to manipulate federal funds. In his tweet, he emphasized the need for significant Medicaid reform: "The current bill still fails to address how states like California exploit Medicaid provider taxes to launder federal funds. We need REAL Medicaid reform now."
Later that day, Burlison criticized delayed financial offsets in government budgets. He questioned when politicians would take responsibility for managing federal spending more effectively: "Offsets that don't kick in until a new administration aren't offsets at all. When will politicians stop abdicating their responsibility to rein in federal spending?"
In another tweet posted on the same day, Burlison voiced his opposition to the Green New Deal by referring to it as a "scam": "Terminate the Green New Scam."
Eric Burlison has served Missouri’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Billy Long. His political career includes tenure in both the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate before joining Congress.
