Rep. Eric Burlison, a current U.S. Congress member representing Missouri’s 7th district, shared his views on various federal government matters through a series of tweets dated June 5, 2025.
In the first tweet, Rep. Burlison questioned the feasibility of a bill being "both big and beautiful," referencing Elon Musk's perspective on the matter. He introduced Episode 48 of "Fresh Freedom," featuring Marc Goldwein to discuss factors contributing to the deficit, debt ceiling strategies, and budget balancing efforts. "Can a bill be both big and beautiful? Elon Musk doesn’t think so—and we debate."
Later that day, Rep. Burlison criticized the federal government's approach to working with tech companies by describing it as "the worst client in America." He suggested that for optimal technological solutions, the government needs to simplify its collaboration processes with external entities. "The federal government is the worst client in America — slow, bloated, and allergic to innovation."
In his final tweet on June 5th, Rep. Burlison addressed inefficiencies within governmental agencies regarding software development practices. He emphasized that instead of spending resources on creating redundant in-house software solutions, agencies should invest in established technologies available in the market. "The federal government wastes billions trying to reinvent the wheel with in-house code."
Rep. Eric Burlison has been serving since 2023 after replacing Billy Long and previously served in both Missouri House of Representatives and Missouri Senate.
