The Ozark Center has been involved in various community service activities, including creating a taco bar and serving meals to children at Jasper County CASA. Volunteers have also assisted disabled children and adults playing baseball at the Will Norton Miracle Field, served lunches to disabled seniors at the Joplin Senior Center, and socialized with animals while cleaning pens at the Joplin and Carthage Humane Society facilities.
Additional efforts include pre-packing meals and school supplies for underserved kids through Bright Futures Joplin, preparing meals and cleaning rooms at Ronald McDonald House of the Four States, organizing the historic Phelps House in Carthage, removing obstacles from walking trails at Wildcat Glades, and helping kids with activities during McDonald County Water Safety Day hosted by McDonald County Community Coalition.
Ozark Center serves over 15,000 patients annually through its walk-in clinics. These clinics are part of numerous achievements by Ozark Center over six decades. The organization integrates substance use treatment, mental health care, and overall health care under one roof. It has also worked towards destigmatizing mental health issues. Other initiatives include providing housing for adults with serious mental illness and being early adopters of Trauma Informed Care.
