The 2025 Tournament of Miracles highlighted the Wurdeman family from Carl Junction, with Rusk and Sutter Wurdeman being named Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Freeman Health System 2025 Champions. The brothers, born seven days apart in different parts of the world, engaged with golfers during the event.
Rusk was born on April 16, 2020, to Brice and Amanda Wurdeman as their sixth biological child. He was born with Down syndrome. Sutter, who also has Down syndrome, was born in Serbia a week earlier and was abandoned at birth. After two years in a state institution, he was adopted by the Wurdemans on July 15, 2022.
Since the partnership between CMN and Freeman began in 1987, over $14 million has been raised for local families according to Miller-Turner.
In tournament results: Grizzly Bear Golf Cars took first place with players Jason Harrell, Natalie Bird, Fred Gardner, and Don Bermel. People’s Bank of Seneca secured second place with Deron Burr, Ronnie Russell, John Klute, and Layne Skiles. Cary Marion & family came third with Cary Marion, Carter Marion, Chris Marion, and Tyler Marion participating.
Individual awards went to Layne Skiles for Closest to Pin (People’s Bank of Seneca), Kolby Carter for Longest Drive (Labette Health), and Don Bermel for Longest Putt (Grizzly Bear Golf Cars).
Another set of winners included Dr. David Black & family taking first place; Benefit Management securing second; H.E. Williams coming third; Tom Owen winning Closest to Pin (Lakeland Office Systems); Alex Page achieving Longest Drive (Missouri Southern State University); Brittany Mackin winning Longest Putt (The Reeves Family); and Nathan Doubledee winning the 50/50 draw.
