Eric Burlison, a current U.S. Congressman representing Missouri's 7th district, has recently expressed his views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Having taken office in 2023, Burlison succeeded Billy Long and previously served in both the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate.
On December 5, 2024, Burlison addressed GOP Senators who are hesitant to confirm former President Trump's nominees. He stated: "My message to GOP Senators who don’t want to confirm Trump’s nominees: Trump took a bullet to the head and then dragged you into the majority. The American people sent a mandate and the American people are watching."
Later that day, he announced taking over a bill originally proposed by former Representative Matt Gaetz aimed at abolishing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). In his words: "Tonight, I officially took over @FmrRepMattGaetz' bill to Abolish the ATF! This is a rogue agency that continues to violate Americans' Second Amendment rights. It's gotta go."
The following day on December 6, Burlison commented on actions by the Democratic Party regarding legal proceedings against political opponents. He urged unity among Republicans by stating: "The Democratic Party has used the legal system to target and jail political opponents. Republicans must stand united to combat these authoritarian tactics."
