Eric Burlison, a current member of the United States Congress representing Missouri’s 7th District since 2023, recently made a series of statements on social media addressing various political issues. Burlison, who succeeded Billy Long in Congress, had previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives and the Missouri Senate. His educational background includes graduating from Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree. As a native of Springfield, Missouri, he continues to reside in Ozark.
On April 16, 2025, Burlison shared his concerns regarding the political climate, attributing the "relentless normalization of hate" by the Democratic Party as a catalyst for diminishing civil discourse in America. He stated, "The Democrat Party’s relentless normalization of hate has pushed America to the brink of losing all pretense of civil discourse. The line between rhetoric and real-world violence has been obliterated."
In another tweet on the same day, Burlison critiqued the Democratic Party's perceived priorities, suggesting they should show more concern for certain individuals, namely Laken Riley and Rachel Morin. He tweeted, "Imagine if Dems cared this much about Laken Riley and Rachel Morin."
Burlison also expressed strong support for former President Donald Trump's influence and direction during his tenure. He claimed that his constituents in Missouri's 7th District largely align with this perspective. On April 16, he stated, "The overwhelming majority of Missouri’s 7th District stands united in the bold direction President Trump is leading our country back toward."
