Eric Burlison, representing Missouri’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has employed social media to broadcast his political views and ongoing legislative initiatives. As a successor to Billy Long since 2023, Burlison continues to voice his positions directly to the public.

On April 15, 2025, Eric Burlison made a controversial assertion regarding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, tweeting that "The ATF only exists to punish law-abiding Americans for owning firearms." Burlison questioned whether fellow politicians would support his legislative proposal, HR 221, aimed at dismantling the ATF.

Later that day, Burlison emphasized a preference for a streamlined federal establishment, expressing that "A leaner government does not mean a weaker one; it means a smarter one, capable of delivering results without draining taxpayers dry." This statement reflects his commitment to fiscal conservatism and efficiency within government structures.

In another tweet, Burlison addressed federal taxation, discussing its impact on citizens' livelihoods. He pointed out that "At a tax rate of 14%, the average American works 6 years out of their life for the federal government—for free!" He further quoted Murray Rothbard, highlighting libertarian inclinations: “The State is a gang of thieves writ large.”

Eric Burlison, born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976, holds two degrees from Missouri State University. His political career includes service in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 and the Missouri Senate from 2019 until his Congressional election in 2023. Currently residing in Ozark, he continues to promote his political philosophies and legislative outlooks, maintaining connections with his constituents through various platforms.
