Rep. Eric Burlison, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Missouri's 7th district, recently shared his views on fiscal issues via a series of tweets dated May 16, 2025. His statements addressed Medicaid, federal revenue and spending deficits, and California's handling of Medicaid funds.

In a tweet posted on May 16, 2025, Burlison discussed Medicaid's impact on poverty and costs. He stated: "The biggest driver? Medicaid — and Democrats are lying about it. They say it’s 'for the poor.' But enrollment has doubled the number of people in poverty — and costs are blowing past every projection."

Addressing the federal deficit in another tweet from the same day, Burlison highlighted discrepancies between revenue and expenditure: "The deficit is the proof We’re only bringing in ~$5 trillion in revenue. That’s almost a $2 trillion hole — every single year. Washington overspends, then pretends the problem is under-taxing. It’s not."

Further focusing on California's management of Medicaid funds, Burlison alleged misuse of federal resources: "California’s Medicaid shell game CA uses a loophole to inflate provider payments, draw down more federal funds, then diverts the money – including ~$4 billion for illegal aliens on Medicaid."

Eric Burlison was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1976 and now resides in Ozark. He holds two degrees from Missouri State University and has served various roles within Missouri state government prior to his current position.
